📋 What does this Extension do?

Screen Translator lets you drag your mouse over any area of a webpage — including images — and get an instant translation. It captures a screenshot of the selected area, reads the text using OCR, and translates it using trusted online services.

📦 What data do we collect?

None. We do not collect any personal information, browsing history, screenshots, translated text, or usage data. No data is ever sent to our servers.

🔗 Third-party services used

To perform OCR and translation, the selected screen region is temporarily sent to these trusted services:

• OCR.space — Reads text from images. Subject to OCR.space Privacy Policy.
• Google Translate API — Translates the extracted text. Subject to Google Privacy Policy.
• Google Cloud Vision API — Used as a fallback OCR engine. Subject to Google Privacy Policy.

These services only receive the image of the selected region and no personally identifiable information.

🛡️ Permissions explained

• activeTab — Access the current tab only when you click the Extension button.
• captureVisibleTab — Take a screenshot of the area you select. Required for OCR.
• storage — Save your preferred language locally on your device only.
• scripting — Show the selection overlay on the current page.

👶 Children's Privacy

This Extension does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since we collect no data at all, there is no risk to children's privacy.

🔄 Changes to this Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top. Continued use of the Extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.
